NOTE:
Kissing Bridge Founder Harry Loomis has passed away. Although I never met with Mr. Loomis it is through the efforts of Mr. Loomis and Mr. Bob James that so many of us in WNY have been able to enjoy skiing and riding over the past 50 years. Generations of outdoor enthusiasts owe a debt of gratitude to Mr. Loomis. I believe I speak for all the employees at

The following was offered by M.C. Herrwood and taken from a story on the Yahoo contributer network,
-Kissing Bridge began operating in December 1960 through the efforts of brothers-in-law Harry Loomis and Bob James who envisioned that western New York was an ideal setting for a ski resort. Their original purchase of 415 acres had an elevation of 1700 feet with a vertical drop of 453 feet. Their instincts were correct and the ski resort has become one of the more popular destinations of skiers who come from near and far.
With the installation of snowmaking equipment in 1965, Kissing Bridge was able to offer 105 ski days instead of just 57 ski days available previously. Original investors purchased stock for $10, then $12 a share and Loomis and James proudly state that no investor has lost money on this speculative venture.
Kissing Bridge for 50 years has allowed western New Yorkers to enjoy the winter weather here which is often spoken of derisively by outsiders who cannot imagine the pleasure that it brings.
