Ready, set....... go?
A short conversation with Mt. Ops this morning put a a smile on my face, the hoses are being rolled out to the snow cannons grouped in mass around the Holly and Coal-Chute areas as well as other strategic locations. The plan is to operate tonight. The temps are marginal, but the chances are good the progression toward opening day will begin in the next 24hours. I remain optimistic at this point that we may be skiing in a week or so! Looking out my window this morning it appears a lawn mower might be of more use than a Piston Bully, but that will change in a hurry when the new snowmaking system fires up and the lake effect machine roars to life!
In other news the Molson and NAR race league schedule is posted for the 2010 season. This is a whole lotta fun. The atmosphere is groovy with some of the best skiers in the state more than willing to help new racers get started in the sport. We have a ton of new faces with some young guns making things a bit more interesting for old geezers like me. This season all racers will have an opportunity to score the events toward their national NASTAR ranking as well.
The Return of the Bear, Shoe Fly Far Part II will be held March 6th, 2010. details will be available in coming weeks.
-Your friendly neighborhood reporter is off to Ski the Canadian Rockies with our partners from SKI BIG 3 for the weekend. Early next week I will bring you photos of the snowmaking progress and from that point on I will provide updates fast and furious as we approach opening day!
