Is Pow a good thing? Let it snow.
As we move into the second half of the season I can say that despite any record breaking snowfall it has indeed been an above average season. A cold and blustery day this past Sunday dropped around 8 inches from early morning through the evening and this will help to keep the ball rolling into next month! With the wind driving the snow as it fell I had my familly bundled up and we were at it all day long. My 9 year old and 6 year old were enjoying knee deep shots all afternoon and looked like to little snow balls as they departed the lift for another blast down the hill! After so many days of “hero” snow and perfect grip it and rip it groomers it was nice to step out of the comfort zone and enjoy the snow as the wind whiped up new drifts and “powder” stashes with each new run. Back to groovelicious snow today, but I hope we see another storm soon and welcome the return of skiing in the snow again and not on top of it, a different skill set to be sure, but fun all the same. We did hear at least one complaint about the snow not being groomed through the day, please understand that KB does its very best not to put a groomer out on the hill during hours of operation and that the heaviest snow fell in the morning hours through afternoon. Fresh snow is paradise for some and a nightmare for others especially as the prevailing wind blows from the west and drives the blowing snow into your face as you depart the lift. In short, it snowed a bunch and that may at times require extra effort to get the most out of the day, we like snow here in the Glenwood Valley and hope to see lots of more of it! Powder skiing is a rare bird in WNY, I hope many of you were able to get out and enjoy it and plan to enjoy the many days of skiing and riding ahead! To the party who experienced some difficulty in the deep stuff yesterday please know that your concerns were handed to Man.
