Up next, snow…

Wow, very cool weekend indeed, well Saturday for sure. I had a great time running the Cyclocross Race and when I finally rolled up the last bit of marking tape and parked my Kubota for the evening I was just in time to watch the hot air balloon go up and the rail jam competitors throw down. This was phase one of turning swap weekend into a festival of activity and pre season fun so look for more events next season. Your suggestions are welcome, just post them here. Onward toward the season of cold and snow I say. The guns are up on Holly and the guys from Ratnik Snow industries are here today running final systems checks  on the pumps and control systems. The forecast is still pretty warm for the next ten days, but I figure that after turkey day we will pay dearly for all this “nice” weather. Old Man winter, tired of lurking in the northernmost shadows, will kick the door in and drop the temps and the snow on us like Thor weilding his hammer. Speaking of Thanksgiving… check out the website on Black Friday for some unique products offered at great prices. Some of these packages have never, and may never again be offered beyond this one day event. Anyway, I sit, growing impatient and waiting along with you for the season to take hold, until then I’ll try to drop by the blog now and again and let you know what is going on.

Aloha means goodbye,

ACM

  • Where is over here and who are you? Just curious, looking forward to seeing our new snowmaking pumps linked up and in action, I hope we can load up Holly in just two or three days, seems likely with the raw horsepower increase, I guess the results will be clear to be see when the mercury dips and stays under 28ish for a spell. Until then perhaps some surfing or at least a paddle on the lake this Saturday and Cyclocross ride at Deleware Park with the crew form Campus Wheelworks Sunday mornin’ I don’t start wiggin until after the turkey and stuffin’ are all gobbled up, then it better be gettin’ cold by golly!

    Keep on keepin on,
    ACM

  • Out of town, I’ll update when I return, I have been in contact with KB Dailly and poted new of nowmaking and Pics taken this weekend at kbski.com, that is where to go for the latest news and hourly updates once we are a few days out. I’ll be back in the office Wednesday and get the scoop. Per a converstation this morning it appears that they want to blow snow all this coming weekend when the temps drop some more and open the following week with a good product and try to avoid a opening with a ton of folks bouncing around on a poor snow surface with snow guns blowing in faces. If we get a big lake effect event all bets are off as lift ops and all other facets of the operation are green light.

  • I don’t understand why you are not opening today like HV is. You’ve been making snow just as much as they have, and from what I saw last week, you had more. With the weather today and tomorrow, why can’t you open? Come on—-compete!
