As the world turns…
Waiting for the Man to make a call? Same here! I know that whatever sense of urgency I may be feeling is nothing compared to those of you who can’t just look out the window and see whats going on. So, here is whats goin’ on man…
We have endured a reversal of fortune on the Lake Effect Snow front seeing heavy snows fall all around us while the sun continues to shine high above the Glenwood Valley. Very frustrating indeed.
The good news is that the temperatures were colder than I expected and we saw long runs of continuous snowmaking over the past week. Also (here comes the eternal optimism silver lining glass is always half full line of bull) the lack of wet heavy natural snow early last week allowed the ground to freeze up some and should result in an excellent surface when we open thanks to the skill and experience of our snowmaking crew!
Whats going to open when we do get rolling… Looking at the slopes today I think Holly should pop open with excellent skiing and riding. Twister is coming along, but without another run of cold and some help from Ullr it will take a bit more time to get er’ done. The bunny hill should be open?
Park Features etc. I am trying to track down S. Voit today to get a detailed plan on park progression. Keep posted. Operations is very dedicated to the park scene this year as evidence by the new park slope atop World of your own and expanded features etc. Look to the park page in the next week or so for the seasonal park plan.
So, that is all well and good, all I want to know is when will you open?!… The official word will be dropped Wednesday if all goes as planned. I suspect that we will open at 9am Friday morning with Holly and the beginner hill (Beginner hill needs some more snowmaking weather). This is a very early opening and crazy early taking note that we have seen more than 3 inches of natural snow.
I will continue to post updates as information becomes available.
